We arrived at Ocho Rios around 9AM on Wednesday, August 28. Jamaica is very beautiful, but is also VERY poor.
The chief exports seem to be bauxite and brown sugar. We even got to see the one of the bauxite processing plants, where part of Dr. No was filmed.
We started the day off with a visit and a 1000 foot climb up Dunn's River Falls - there's some good pics below. After that,
we had a nice tour of the countryside (including Ferngully) by our driver/tour guide, Peat Taylor. Afte that, Peat took us back to
the ship for lunch and met us again at 2PM that day. Peat then took us into town for some shopping where we bought some Blue Mountain Coffee, some
151 White Rum, and a couple of t-shirts. We returned to the ship around 4PM and the ship left port around 5PM. I (Kirk) also climbed the rock wall - first time ever and I did great!
That night was a casual night for dinner and we also had tickets for the ice show, which was INCREDIBLE! A;sp - I'm proud to say the I purchased my first
trobpical/cabana shirt and wore it for dinner that night, making our tablemates very proud, as well. We also caught a game show called "Love and Marriage" around 10:30PM in their main theatre. It was kind of a
Newlywed Game and it was damn funny.
After that, there was a Mardi Gras parade on the Royal Promenade. It was pretty cheesey, but I'm sure the kids dug it. Then, from 11:30PM until 1AM, there was a pool party on the
upper deck, complete with live band and another buffet (which we skipped). Then, it was off to bed. Next up - Georgetown, Grand Caymen and some incredible snorkling.

| This is a shot of us approaching the port at Ocho Rios. That water was incredibly blue. To the left, you can see
the bauxite processing factory - where part of Dr. No was filmed. |

| A pic of the late night pool party. We had a fruity-boozey drink, then hit the hay. |
A towel tortoise was waiting for us in our room. |
