We arrived at Labadee around 8AM on Tuesday, August 27. Labadee, Hispanola (Haiti) is a VERY poor
country, as was evidenced by the homes and by the folks selling their wares in the local marketplace. We goofed on getting a picture of the marketplace, so
descriptions will have to do.
That morning, we both had spa appointments (that sounds so gay). Wendy had a Stone Therapy Massage and I had a Full Body Massage (with a very cute British girl, ahem). My
massage was great - at least I think it was great - I kept falling asleep. I think Wendy enjoyed hers, but she walked away bruised.
We signed up for snorkling lessons, which turned out to just be a self-taught excursion. There was a cool airplane wreck to snorkel around.
Then we wandered over to the marketplace to buy some crap. I bought a handcarved bowl and chess set - they both reminded me of the carved pieces and artwork that my grandparents brought
back from Liberia in the 60s. Wendy bought some hand-woven sweetgrass baskets. Outside of Beaufort, SC, these baskets are made by the Gulla tribe. The Gulla are actually Haitians that were brought here
as slaves. In SC, these baskets go for anywhere from $40 - $200. We got them for about $5 or $6 bucks a piece.
After that, we headed back to the ship to get ready for dinner and do some more ship exploration. We may have played Bingo again. |

| This is either pulling into or away from Labadee. Can't remember. |
Ditto. |

| This is a nice inlet at Labadee (Haiti). There were some sailboats, local fishermen, and some canoeists and jet skiers on shore excursions. |
A closer shot of the inlet. |

| Just another photo of the island. |
This was definitely when we were arriving at Labadee and is a beautiful sunrise. |

| A photo of me - sans jacket - before the smart casual dinner. Wendy wanted these since we don't have too
many of me since the weight loss. |

| Wendy and I from the professional photo taken that night. Cheesy backdrop. |
Just for shits and grins - here's a photo from late-January, 2002. This should give a good compare/contrast of how much
weight Wendy and I have lost. |

| We had this towel elephant waiting for us in our room that night. |

| Can't remember what we did that evening. We may have caught some of the band in the High Notes club, a jazz club on board. Either way, we hit the hay
somewhat early since we had an early day the next morning in Jamaica. |
